Abstract

The article focuses on the use of groups in teaching. A group helps a student in clarifying his learning goals and provides support for the achievement of these goals. The communication between teachers and students is very important in the learning process. It is a two way process and is not completed until feedback is given. Teachers must realize the importance of the group processes as aids in teaching-learning and should develop techniques for utilizing groups in teaching. The techniques for the utilization of groups in teaching-learning include various combinations and proportions of small group discussion, large group discussion, committees, panels, symposia, opposing panels and group observers. The teachers must have faith in the ability of students and must be willing to share the responsibility of learning with the students.
