Abstract
- The article reports on the plans in Saudi Arabia to build a $7 billion partly virtual fence along its 500 mile border with Iraq. Saudi diplomats say that the fence would be built to inhibit weapons and drug smuggling as well as illegal immigration but also admit they want protection should the sectarian violence and jihad militancy in Iraq spread south. Sources say the kingdom is seeking bids from contractors, such as U.S. based Raytheon.
