Abstract
- The article highlights the opening of a school in Northern Yezo in Japan citing activities during a dedication for the school. A portrait of the Japanese emperor was sent to the school house on dedication day. The portrait was enclosed in a square box covered with white cloth, long poles giving ease in carrying upon the shoulders of men. Professor Deslaudres, head of the French eclipse expedition made a short speech, including Professor Terso of Tokyo who studied in Paris, France.
