Abstract

The article discusses the nature and definition of poverty as it continues to be a social problem of the world. The study of poverty has always been of interest to experts of social science as it tends to change in form and definition relative to time and social situation. Experts have identified two type of poverty in their continuous study, the case poverty and the insular poverty. The former is prevalent on prosperous towns caused by factors such as mental deficiency, ill health or alcoholism that which prevent a member or the head of the family in acquiring benefit from the general prosperity. The latter on the other hand is an attribution of the existing natural environment, in the case of an area that has always been stricken by poverty it mostly follows that inhabitants are poor.
