Abstract

The article discusses the benefits of the assistive technology called direct brain interface for people with severe physical disabilities. The technology detects minute changes in the physical properties of the brain, such as blood oxygenation, and can provide channels of control that do not depend on muscle movement. Through the efforts by researchers like the BrainLab of the Georgia Institute of Technology, the technology is beginning to be reliable and effective enough to use in real-world scenarios.
