Are CMM Program Investments Beneficial? Analyzing Past Studies.

The article analyzes previous studies on the results of Capability Maturity Model (CMM) program investments. One of these works is from Brad Clark, who investigated the relationship between the developer's CMM level and software development efficiency for 112 projects. Another by Donald Harter, Mayuram Krishnan and Sandra Slaughter analyzed 30 large-scale projects at a major information technology firm. The seven common performance metrics are also discussed including error density, software development productivity, percentage of rework, and schedule fidelity.
