Abstract

The article presents a discussion of enteroviruses. It states that it is now apparent that the three viruses which cause poliomyelitis belong to a class of more than fifty viruses which normally live in the human alimentary tract without causing disease. It mentions that the polio virus would not consistently cause infection in smaller and more abundant laboratory animals such as mice and guinea pigs.
