Abstract

The article reports on the decision of the British Health & Safety Executive (HSE) to withdraw its advice on transporting paper in Great Britain amid fears that it could have been causing accidents rather than preventing them. The guidance has been withdrawn following a number of serious incidents involving curtainsiders. Andrew Braund, head of health and safety at the Confederation of Paper Industries, says the problems arose because the HSE advice suggested the curtain could be used as a restraint for the paper.
