Abstract

The article discusses the prognosis of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children. It has been noted that it is the most prevalent and best researched of all the childhood mental illnesses. Neurobiologically based, the notion over the years has been that ADHD is a childhood disorder in which symptoms lessen over time but is seen to be persistent during adulthood. However, positive results are emerging from cognitive approaches to the treatment of adult ADHD.
