Abstract

The article reports on various news briefs related to the use of the Internet in higher education. Brian L. Hawkins, chief executive and founding president of Educause, announced that he will retire from the education-technology group at the end of the 2007/2008 academic year. Harvard University (Cambridge, Massachusetts) became the first Ivy League school to test Turnitin, an online antiplagiarism tool whose clients include thousands of colleges and high schools. The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the main accreditor for teacher training, has for the first time in its history approved accreditation for an online institution, Western Governors University.
