Abstract
- The article reviews the poem "Amicissimo, et meritissimo Ben: Ionson," a poem in Latin by John Donne. It examines the poem in light of the comedy "Volpone" by Ben Jonson. The author addresses the deletion of the Latin word "veteres" from the text, arguing that it influences the meaning of the poem. The meaning of several Latin words and phrases are explored, including "quod," "quos," and "sumere." The syntactical complexity of the poem is emphasized.
