Abstract

In this study, we analyzed the characteristics of trunk(shoulder line)rotation movement during throwing motion in female university baseball players (FUBP) by comparing with male university baseball players (MUBP). As a result, we found that trunk rotation movement at the ball release phase in FUBP was inadequate in comparison with a high-speed pitcher in MUBP. We also found that the contribution of trunk rotation movement to the throwing ability in FUBP is inadequate in comparison with MUBP. Above all, we conclude that the throwing motion in FUBP mostly depends on the swing movement of the upper extremities. Excessive repetition of such throwing motion may induce throwing injuries in the upper extremities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
