Abstract

The article discusses the connection between sociology and activism. Activists are those who are committed to promoting social change by being involved in social movement organizations and advocacy groups. To be able to truly become an activist, one's participation should be at the decision-making level. Activist sociology is an endeavor that is focused on social justice with an integration of scholarly studies. One person who can be considered as an activist sociologist is Karl Marx. An example of an activist sociology movement is the Settlement House movement in the U.S.
