Abstract
- The article offers a brief overview of the complex interactions among cardiac sympathetic afferent, chemoreflex and baroreflex and its role in regulating the sympathetic outflow in a congestive heart failure (CHF) state. CHF is a syndrome characterized by the reduction in pump function of the heart, while the three cardiovascular reflexes controls the circulation of blood. Evidence shows that augmented excitatory reflexes in CHF may contribute to activation of sympathetic outflow.
