Abstract
- The article focuses on the election of vice-presidents for the British Board of Film Censors (BBFC). The Video Recordings Act made the BBFC the government's designated video censorship and classification agency in 1984. James Ferman, BBFC secretary since 1975, placed Lord Goodman's name before Home Office minister David Mellor as an appropriate appointment. Home secretary Jack Straw defeated Ferman and the BBFC and appointed two vice presidents in 1998.
