Abstract

This paper deals with the consequences of a specific political, geographic, historical, and economic fact: the border between the People's Republic of China and Hong Kong. This border, together with the differing political and economic systems which it separates, has had a major impact on the definition of crime problems, the substance of the criminal law, and criminal justice policy in Hong Kong. This paper traces recent developments in three areas of cross-border crime: smuggling, illegal immigration, and, perhaps less obviously, armed robbery. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
