Abstract

The article discusses the study concerning the personality and attitudes of effective hospital corpsmen (HMs) of the U.S. Navy. The study evaluated the Recruit Temperament Survey (RTS) as a classification instrument for identifying effective HMs. The study was conducted to identify personality and attitudinal characteristics which discriminate significantly between HMs and noneffective HMs and between effective HMs and other navy enlisted personnel. It also aims to determine the usefulness of these variables in identifying effective HMs. The study indicated that the effective HM is a well adjusted individual who tends to focus more on health-related problems.
