Abstract

The article presents a study which explores effectiveness of community treatment for chronic psychotic patient. The objective of the study was to present the findings regarding the clinical utility of treating psychosis with respect to effecting hospital release, reducing recidivism and enhancing community adjustment. It measures the effectivity of community treatment by comparing the outcome of the program with the outcome of two hospitals based socioenvironmental therapy and traditional hospital treatment. It shows that community treatment is more advantageous than residential treatment for chronic hospitalized patients and more effective than traditional hospital programs in preventing readmission.
