Abstract

The article examines the relationship between the clinical features of depressive illness and response to antidepressants. No significant differences in response could be shown in all patients treated with imipramine and tranylcypromine. There is no evidence to support the theory that imipramine is more effective in endogenous depression, as well as the effectiveness of tranylcypromine in atypical depression. Moreover, it was found that the response to both drugs is most significant in the first two weeks of treatment.
