Abstract
- The article discusses the efforts of businesses to combat the spread of diseases in Africa. Mining firm Anglo American used the method of indoor residual spraying to combat malaria. Pharmaceutical firm Merck partnered with the Gates Foundation to provide antiretroviral therapy for patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The HealthStore Foundation helped establish clinics offering testing and diagnosis of diseases and selling drugs and other healthcare products.
