Abstract

In this paper, we derive an equation for the growth of a flame ball for a free boundary combustion model with radiative transfer. The equation for the radiative field is given by the linearized Eddington equation. We then study the mathematical properties of this equation of growth and carry out numerical computations in order to discuss the stability or instability of steady flame balls.
