Abstract
- The article presents some of the highlights of a workshop conducted by artist Francis Cunningham at the Art Students League of New York in Manhattan. He provided lectures about the reasons for drawing a full-scale nude figure. He demonstrated how he wanted participants to hold the stick of vine charcoal as they drew the model. He also discussed the ultimate goal of using the life-size drawing of the nude as the foundation of an oil painting.
