OFSTED and libraries in first and primary schools: Some observations on expectations.

The article presents an evaluation of the reports made by the British Office for Standards in Education (OFSTED) regarding librarianship in first and primary schools in urban northern England. The report is presented in detail, offering a content analysis of the research. The lack of distinction given to libraries in the report is focused upon, highlighting the need for additional organizational skills to further integrate into the broader school curriculum. A brief overview of OFSTED and its role in education monitoring is also provided.
