Abstract

The article reports that assistant professor of pediatrics Janice Stuff has warned that caffeine increases children's heart rate and interferes with sleep, and some studies show it affects concentration and problem solving. She recommends that children should have no more than one milligram of caffeine per pound of body weight daily. She says it is best to avoid caffeine within six hours of bedtime. Information on the caffeine contents of several beverages is provided.
