Abstract

The article presents information on the marketing implications of unfair competition. In regard to advertising, the article discusses the dismissal of charges in regard to the First Buckingham Community, Inc. et al. as it pertains to the policy of racial discrimination in the renting of apartments. The jurisdiction of the Federal Trade Commission in light of the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 is discussed. In regard to nonadvertising promotional methods, the article presents a discussion of the "Report on the District of Columbia Consumer Protection Program" which addresses unfair and deceptive practices to which low-income consumers were susceptible. The article states that public hearings associated with the report will inform future Federal Trade Commission actions.
