Abstract
- This article discusses the tissue distribution and depuration of microcystin toxins in bighead carp in China. The authors analyzed microcystins in the muscle, kidney, intestine, gallbladder, and spleen samples using a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometer. After microcystin intraperitoneal injections, the authors found the toxins primarily in the liver, gallbladder, and intestines of the fish. The elimination of microcystin-LR occurred at the intestine while microcystin-RR degraded in the liver after entering the blood system.
