Abstract
- Based on scholarly literature and fieldwork on the efficacy of music, musicians and organizations in promoting social change, this article explores ways in which organizations in Nairobi, Kenya, are drawing upon musicians and musics for education and development purposes. I examine: types of relationships formed between organizations and musicians; the reasons for and goals of these collaborations; how incorporating musicians might impact on the effectiveness of organizations; and the production of performance to encourage social change.
