Abstract
- The article presents information on the legal developments in Austrian bank lending. It states that the number of bank loans granted by the financial institutions in Austria has increased since 2004. A survey by the Austrian central bank revealed that a slight increase in the demand for corporate loans has been recorded in 2006. It states that legislative developments in bank lending have influenced the laws on bank regulation. It discusses several legal developments in Austrian bank lending, which includes stamp tax on loan agreements, free movement of capital for third-country banks, and bank's authority to demand amounts due and payable without any notice. It informs that most of the legal amendments in Austrian bank lending were related to the perceptions of the European Union.
