Abstract

The article presents information on the Climate Change Convention completed during the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 1992. The Convention were negotiated for 2 months before it was ratified at the conference. Based on the article, the formal negotiations for the Convention assessed the scientific and political investigation of the global warming problem. It is said that the U.S. was able to prevent the Convention from referring to direct targets and timetables. Under the Convention, actions undertaken by developing countries would be conditional on assistance from the industrialized world.
