Abstract

The article presents a perspective on the issues discussed in the paper "The Eclipse of Consociationalism in South Africa's Democratic Transition," by Michael Kelly Connors. According to the author, the paper asserted that 1994 interim constitution of the country comprised just a semi-constitutional factor. He also noted that the 1996 African constitution discarded consociational democracy of power-sharing. Furthermore, the author indicated that Connors has debated the alleged downfall of the power-sharing system is a favorable development due to an unsuitable foreign constitutional model.
