Abstract

The article discusses the case of a patient who presented with fever, weight loss, diarrhea and adenopathy. He had a history of severe destructive polyarthritis. Duodenal biopsy showed a periodic acid-Schiff-positive macrophages. He was found positive for Tropheryma whipplei in synovial fluid, synovial tissue, and lymph node specimens, and Whipple's disease was confirmed. He was given antiobiotic and his symptoms stopped.
