Abstract

The article provides information on burnout and the tendency for hospital librarians to suffer the condition. Burnout is primarily job related and is generated in workplaces where the environment encourages over-achievement and sublimation of the worker to the company. The factors often associated with burnout among hospital nurses include role conflict, role ambiguity and role overload. Co-workers may also contribute to the condition by constantly complaining, refusing to do assigned work and absenteeism
