Abstract

The article discusses how Target received unwanted publicity when a newspaper reported that the retailer encouraged its core of "cool kids" fans called Target Rounders to talk up the retailer on the online social networking web site Facebook when Target started a Facebook page in October 2007. According to one of the Target Rounders the company requested that they not mention in blogs that they are connected to Target, but still promote the company.
