Abstract

The article focuses on the study conducted regarding the use of superoxide dismutase (SOD) against zinc toxicity in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. The toxic levels, content, catalase activities and lipid peroxidation of zinc has been evaluated and compared with SOD mutant cells. The study also shows that mutant cells are more sensible to zinc stress and contains oxidative intracellular environment compared to wild type cells. The SOD level also increases if the cells are treated by the zinc with higher concentrations.
