Competitive Plowing and Organized Sport in the Ontario Countryside, 1911-1941.

The article looks at the period of 1911-1914 when competitive plowing became an organized sport with the establishment of the Ontario Plowmen's Association (OPA) in 1911. The first OPA provincial plowing championship was held in November 1913. The creation of OPA and the resumption of the provincial plowing matches marked the start of the 20th-century renaissance of the sport in Ontario.
