Abstract
- The article discusses the issue whether markets can save the forest of the world. The forces threatening to destroy these trees could be their salvation with the right infrastructure. It is noted that in the international market, trees are more worthy when dead than when they are alive. This is considered as a lesson that should not be forgotten as the international community is exploring on ways to lessen global-warming emissions from deforestation. The integration of deforestation into international carbon markets is a good start to solve the problem. However, ending deforestation quickly was found to be the cheapest way of reducing emissions.
