Abstract

The article presents a discussion on glyphosate-resistant weeds. Glyphosate is a herbicide used around the world to control weeds since 1996. With the increase in the planting of glyphosate-resistant crops in the U. S. came the growth of glyphosate-resistant weeds including Ambrosia artemissifolia L. and Amaranthus palmeri S Watson. Glyphosate-resistant weeds were also found in Argentina and Brazil. The article mentions that glyphosate-resistant weeds are expected to evolve with continued planting of glyphosate-resistant crops. It also discusses the importance of diversifying weed management for the continued use of glyphosate as herbicide.
