Abstract

The article reports on the study of the growth of woodland conditions in adjacent plots in England and Wales. In the study, five sites have been chosen, widely distributed in areas of different climates and soils. The study shows that the soils seem to be determined by the different tree species which stand on a surface layer unincorporated with organic materials. Moreover, the amount and nature of the organic matter is widely dependent upon the tree species planted. The least collection happens under the hardwoods and the greatest is under the conifers.
