Abstract

The article reports on the adverse impact of the conventional publish for free and pay to read business model. It mentions that there are several publishers of academic journals have adopted the open-access model, but this model can do more harm than good and it mentions its negative impact including the access gap to scholarly literature, worsened by the increasing costs of journal and the declension of library budget. In addition, despite of its open-access features, it will do more aggravations than benefits.
