Abstract

This article discusses the United States energy policy under President George W. Bush's administration. In spite of Bush's campaign promise to require power companies to reduce global warming, he has changed his policy so that it favors the fossil-fuel industry. The article discusses how the policy has led to high energy prices, a weak dollar, and a recession. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker warned of the negative effect on the economy from the lack of a plan to deal with climate change. The author believes that the U.S. economy will be revived by a plan to solve both the energy and climate crises.
