Abstract

The article offers advise on how to deal with job loss, divorce and disability which can wreak havoc with long-term financial plans. In a climate of economic slowdown, workers can lessen their job insecurities by keeping their resume updated so that they can start a job search immediately if necessary. Workers are also encouraged to stay marketable by keeping their skills up-to-date and perhaps develop some new ones. Meanwhile, in case of a divorce, workers are advised to temper emotions and take control of their finances. INSET: Return of the 'boomerang' children.
