Abstract
- In Japan, after the Hanshin-Awaji earthquake, applications of anti-seismic systems have been much progressed. New design codes for base-isolated buildings were enacted in 2000. The objects of seismic isolation technologies expanded. The seismic isolation began to be used for structures such as high-rise building, artificial grounds for multiple buildings and cultural heritages, in addition to normal office buildings and residential ones. The seismic isolation also began to be used for industrial buildings such as semiconductor manufacturing factories which contain very sensitive equipment. This paper describes the current status of development and application of antiseismic systems to buildings, cultural heritage and industrial facilities in Japan. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
