Abstract
- The article discusses the declining rate of admission and retention of students in teacher preparation arts programs. Due to the decrease of enrollment in arts programs, many undergraduates majoring in education are no longer interested in taking a job of teaching the arts. According to the author, the problem in admission and retention are caused by the lack of support in mediocre performance arts students, which affects students' self-worth and leads them to consider a change in major.
