Abstract
- The article offers information on woodblock carvers during the Ming dynasty in China. It explores the importance attributed to woodblock carvers with some 6,000 names found in printed works, such as in books, at the end of prefaces, chapters and introductory remarks. The author, however, alleges that other than the plenitude of names, the Chinese have described the actual work and workers in the industry and have considered printing as one of their greatest contributions to world civilization.
