Abstract
- An interview with psychiatrist Barton Blinder, a pioneer in the research of eating disorders, is presented. He discusses the role of visual imagery in eating disorders from several perspectives, including the visual body image distortions experienced by some suffering from eating disorders. He explains why anorexics experience distorted self-representations of their own body images. He notes that there are some cultural influences or images in the current U.S. clinical practice that young women are attaching themselves into.
