Abstract
- The article describes the labor relations in the cotton spinning industry in Great Britain during the inter-war years, using records from employer and trade union organizations at the district and industry level. Such records include those from the Federation of Master Cotton Spinners Association, the Cotton Spinners and Manufacturers Association (CSMA) and the Oldham Master Cotton Spinners Association (MCSA). The demand constraints and strategies available to employers are explored. An examination of the bargaining process during the years when wage rates were amended is also provided.
