Abstract

The article presents a study which analyzes the government economics and policy to increase biofuel dependency in the U.S. It states that President George W. Bush has signed the law "The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007," which establishes the biggest increase in biofuels mandate, known as the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS), in the country's history. The Congress has debated that RFS will diversify energy supplies and reduce dependence on oil from other countries, while limiting the impact of biofuels on food security and agricultural prices.
