Abstract

(1− x)(Na<subscript>0.5</subscript>K<subscript>0.5</subscript>)(Nb<subscript>0.96</subscript>Sb<subscript>0.04</subscript>)O<subscript>3</subscript>– xCaTiO<subscript>3</subscript> lead-free piezoelectric ceramics were prepared by normal sintering. The effects of the CaTiO<subscript>3</subscript> on the phase structure and piezoelectric properties of the ceramics were systematically studied. These results show that the CaTiO<subscript>3</subscript>-modified (K<subscript>0.50</subscript>Na<subscript>0.50</subscript>)(Nb<subscript>0.96</subscript>Sb<subscript>0.04</subscript>)O<subscript>3</subscript> lead-free piezoelectric ceramics form stable solution with orthorhombic structure, and the Curie temperature and the polymorphic phase transition of the ceramics decreased with increasing x. Moreover, the effect of the polarization temperature ( T<subscript>p</subscript>) on the piezoelectric properties of the ceramics was also discussed. The result shows that the piezoelectric properties of the ceramics strongly depend on the T<subscript>p</subscript>. The ceramics with x=0.01 poled at T<subscript>p</subscript>=35°C possess optimum properties ( d<subscript>33</subscript>=168 pC/N, k<subscript>p</subscript>=45%, T<subscript>c</subscript>=314°C, T<subscript> o− t</subscript>=120°C, ℇ<subscript>r</subscript>∼1041, and tan δ∼2.5%). These results indicate that the ceramic is a promising candidate material for lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
