Outlook for 2008-09: Political outlook.

The article presents the political outlook for France for 2008-2009. President Nicolas Sarkozy has enjoyed moderate success in implementing some structural reforms since his election in May 2007, however, he faces political and economic challenges on his second year. The president has engineered a change in some areas of foreign policy more than his predecessor. Moreover, Sarkozy has laid several programmes, including common immigration, defence, energy and environmental polices.
