Abstract
- The article considers the theoretical concepts of cultural visibility, naturalization and the notion of technological, institutional and imaginative props, which are used by the author in the operation of money in eighteenth and nineteenth century Great Britain. It discusses assumptions pertaining to the constitutive fictions embedded in all monetary forms, as well as to the use of monetary instruments as credit instruments. A historical background on money in Great Britain is presented.
